This is a good point JD. I have never been a member of a union and as a result am unaware of the mix thats involved when it comes to striking. Although in relation to schools and teaching I don't think i'd like to see my principal shouting and ranting beside me if I was to ever march! I think senior management have a responsibilty in schools to run it like a business and although it may be hard, must learn to avoid weighing in on too many arguments.

I think their skills are best served dealing with the problem so the affect on the kids is a little as possible and would hope that other teachers would see this as their role and not turning their back on the cause.

Hi there,

Good observations and opinions about the strike.

However I have a question, why do the teachers and other "Front Line Groups" let the other bodies within the public sector use and abuse the goodwill that they have earned with "Joe Public" through their very hard work and dedication over the years?

I heard recently that these "Front Line Groups" only account for 1/5 of the Public Sector.

Surely the teachers should be asking why these faceless groups are hiding behind and using them?
